Mugs & Moments at Matcha Cafe Naiyang: A Cozy Local Favorite

Some places slowly become part of your routine before you even realize it—and Matcha Cafe Naiyang is exactly that kind of place for us.

Located just a 10-minute walk from our house and about 10 minutes from Naiyang Beach, this sweet little cafe has been a familiar presence even before it opened its doors.  I watched it take shape from the ground up—construction, setup, and all—and it’s been such a joy to see it transform into the adorable, cozy, and subtly trendy cafe it is today.

The Space

Matcha Cafe blends a perfect balance between comfortable and cute. The design feels intentional without being overdone, making it an easy place to settle in—whether you’re meeting a friend, working online, or just enjoying a quiet moment with a delicious drink. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed, and full of thoughtful details that make you want to linger.

The Menu

As the name suggest, matcha lovers will be very happy here, but the menu goes well beyond that.

  • Full coffee menu (hot & cold)
  • Plenty of matcha options
  • Thai tea, both hot & cold
  • Free wi-fi for those who want to work or stay awhile

And then there’s the bakery…

The baked goods are truly outstanding. Everything looks tempting—and tastes just as good.

You’ll find:

  • Cakes
  • Croissants
  • Cookies
  • And more bakery-style desserts

They also offer local Thai favorites, which is also a bonus. Some that have become our favorites are:

  • Khanom Tom (Thai coconut balls)
  • Khanom Tuay (Thai coconut custard)

It’s the kind of place where ordering “just one thing” is nearly impossible.

A Thoughtful Touch

One detail that really stood out to me is their drink stamp card system. For every drink you purchase, you receive a stamp—and once you collect 10 stamps, you get a free drink.

While this is common in many Western cafes, this is the first time I’ve seen it here in Phuket, and it feels like such a thoughtful, customer-friendly touch.

The People

Perhaps the best part of Matcha Cafe Naiyang is the people behind it. The cafe is run by a lovely local family who have genuinely become friends. Their warmth and kindness add so much to the overall experience and are a big reason we keep coming back.

Final Thoughts

  • The drinks are consistently delicious
  • The prices are very reasonable
  • The vibe is easygoing and welcoming
  • And the setting is perfectly photogenic

It’s a place that feels both special and familiar—which, to me, is the mark of a truly great neighborhood cafe.
