Welcome to the very first post in my new series, Mugs & Moments – my little caffeinated corner of the blog where I share our weekly Sunday coffee shop adventures around Phuket. These coffee shop moments are my time to rest, recharge, and sip something delicious – often within a coconut toss of the sea. Since we live so close to Naiyang, we’re starting the series with some of our favorite spots nearby – and today’s feature is a cozy Naiyang Beach café that just might steal your heart (and your Sunday mornings).
Each week (or at least as often as life allows), we try a new café. We’re always hunting for that perfect mix of great coffee, chill vibes, and a view worth lingering over. It’s my favorite way to ease into the day and new week, and – let’s be honest – it’s also a great excuse to drink more coffee.
☕ This Week’s Brew Stop: Chern Cup, a Naiyang Beach café
Let me just say it: this place has stolen our hearts… and a good chunk of our weekly schedule.
Chern Cup Café is tucked just steps from the soft sand of Naiyang Beach, with tables and chairs that you can literally move out onto the beach if you feel like having your latte with a side of sea foam. Today, I’m parked in one of their beachside chairs, sipping my caramel macchiato with my toes practically in the Andaman Sea – less than 25 meters from the shoreline. If that’s not living the dream, I don’t know what is.
We’ve been here so many Sundays that it’s no longer just our “Sunday spot”. We now pop in several times a week. Whether it’s a relaxed coffee break, some focused ESL lesson planning, or squeezing out blog posts like this one, something about the sea air and salty breeze just gets my creativity flowing. (Or maybe that’s just the caffeine.)
☕ The Drinks
My go-to is the caramel macchiato (a cool 55 baht), and it’s quickly earned a place in my “Top 5 Beverages of All Time” list. The iced Thai teas are ridiculously good as well – sweet, creamy, and refreshing. And at just 40 baht, they’re basically a gift.
Their hot drinks come in an adorable lineup of animal-shaped mugs, which feels like getting a coffee and a hug from a giraffe all in one. Food options are minimal – an occasional snack here or there (the cookies, when available, are awesome!) – but the drinks more than make up for it.
The Bean Scale
Time to officially rate Chern Cup Café on The Bean Scale – our very serious, highly caffeinated rating system. And Chern Cup rates high – rapidly becoming our favorite, not just Naiyang Beach café, but possibly in all Phuket.
🐚 Final Sips
If you’re in Phuket and looking for a peaceful seaside spot to sip, relax, or even sneak in some laptop work while pretending you’re not working (guilty), Chern Cup Café is it. You might come for the view, but you’ll definitely stay for the coffee… and maybe the giraffe mug.
Stay tuned for more reviews as we caffeinate our way around the island, one bean at a time.
